The Asian Paints Color Academy – Kannagi Nagar film is a powerful story of how art and skill-building can transform communities. Located in what became India’s largest resettlement site after the 2004 tsunami, Kannagi Nagar has seen a remarkable revival through creativity and training. In collaboration with the St+Art India Foundation, Asian Paints brought its Color Academy Workshop to the neighborhood, providing residents with professional painting skills to secure sustainable livelihoods. The workshop attracted eager participants ready to learn, upskill, and embrace painting as a profession — boosting confidence, independence, and financial security. More than just a training session, the initiative changed perceptions about the community, turning walls into vibrant canvases and residents into skilled painters and contractors. This project stands as a testament to the power of art in driving social change, economic empowerment, and community pride.
